New Zealand game designer and founder of Piki Studios, Whetu Paitai, created a special version of the Minecraft world with Microsoft called Ngā Motu to immerse young people in Māori culture. Ngā Motu, was launched this week within Māori Language Week 2019, it demonstrates how students worldwide can learn Māori while having fun and education at the same time.
This video was taken at our local kura, Newlands Intermediate as well as at Ngā Hau e Whā o Paparārangi.

On Sunday, 18 August 2019 Ngā Hau e Whā o Paparārangi held its Annual General Meeting between 1pm and 3pm.
The day was brisk, but the reports of the mahi achieved over the last 12 months and conversations was passionately warm.
We had the pleasure of Rino Tirikatene, MP for Te Tai Tonga, Wellington City Council Deputy Mayor Jill Day and Councillor Peter Gilberd attend as well as members of Ngā Hau e Whā o Paparārangi.

On Thursday, 27 June 2019 Ngā Hau e Whā o Paparārangi held a Matariki Planting Day and established two Mokomoko habitats.
If you are interested in mokomoko/lizards then signup to our mokomoko project and take part in learning about mokomoko and participate in maintaining our new mokomoko habitats.
ST BRIGID'S KAPA HAKA FESTIVAL
This years festival is being hosted by Ngā Hau e Whā o Paparārangi and will be held on Saturday, 21 September 2019 at Newlands College.

NWR 25TH CELEBRATION
Our Kapa Haka and Komiti Members were invited to the Ngā Whenua Rāhui 25th Anniversary Celebration of their achievements. The celebration was held at Parliament where we heard about various projects of achievement.
The evening was inspirational and informative congratulations to all involved in Ngā Whenua Rāhui from all of us at Ngā Hau e Whā o Paparārangi.
Our Kapa Haka performed during the celebrations.

ST BRIGIDS KAPA HAKA FESTIVAL
The 2014 Festival was held on 20 September 2014 at Newlands College and hosted by Ngā Hau e Whā o Paparārangi. This awesome day celebrating our rangatahi in the Northern Surburbs performing Kapa Haka with a passion. There were more than 2000 people who came to celebrate the performances from the various groups, awesome day, awesome food, looking forward to next years Festival.

MĀORI PERFORMING ARTS
Nau mai, haere mai, piki mai ra
Are you interested in Māori Performing Arts? Do you have a desire to learn waiata Māori in a relaxed atmosphere? Are you a performer or ex-performer who wants to share their skills and experiences with others? Are you willing to give it a go?
If you answered yes to any of these questions then we need you.
The Ngā Hau e Whā o Paparārangi Committee invites you to Ngā Hau e Whā o Paparārangi Marae, Ladbrooke Dr, Newlands on Tuesdays from 6pm until 8pm.
All ages are welcome. Please bring a plate of kai to share.

AHI KAA CELEBRATION
Ahi Kaa Celebrating Parihaka 7 Nov 2015
The theme of Ahi Kaa Celebration was Remember that November . . . it was well attended with around 200 community members turning up to enjoy a Sausage Sizzle, Marshmallow toasting, hot and cold refreshments and watch the Fireworks display. During the evening a screening of the story of Parihaka and its message of peace and goodwill was displayed.
Those who attended supported our Community Resilience initiative by bringing along a tin or packet of non-perishable food.
Ngā Hau e Whā o Paparārangi thanks the community for their support and hoped everyone enjoyed the evening.
OUR WHARE PAREKEREKE
Visit to our Ngā Hau e Whā o Paparārangi Whare Parekereke at Jay St Community Gardens by local schools, where students got taught and got involved with propogation.

BEHIND THE SCENES
AWARD - JUNE 2014
Ngā Hau e Whā o Paparārangi and Woodridge Planters received an award from Volunteer Wellington for work carried out which demonstrated significant positive community impact.
NEIGHBOURS DAY - 29 MAR 2014
Neighbours Day started with a whakatau by Ngā Hau e Whā o Paparārangi, we also had the pleasure of Hon Peter Dunne and Mayor Celia Wade-Brown who came to support this awesome day.
Neighbours came from various locations in the Northern Suburbs and came to meet their neighbours, see the various group displays, have a cuppa and have a hangi it was a great day.
NCG MOU SIGNING - 27 FEB 2014
As part of our 20 Year Planting Project we formed and yesterday signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Northern Community Gardens which are situated at Jay St Reserve.Ngā Hau e Whā o Paparārangi currently has their nursery at Jay St Reserve with the main intention of introducing traditional Māori methods and perspective to planting and to service their 20yr Planting Project.
Ngā Hau e Whā o Paparārangi nursery is to service the various branches of the 20yr Planting Project which are Raranga (Weaving), Rongoa (Medicine) and Māra Kai (Food Gardens and Cooking) with these objectives and programmes this will involve an element of restoration of the whenua (land) in various locations around the Northern Suburbs and in particular around our Marae.
