ANZ Volunteers - 15 July 2026

On Wednesday, 15 July 2026 we had a ANZ Volunteers Group come up to Ngā Hau e Whā o Paparārangi Marae to participate with some of our ongoing mahi. Luckily we had a break from the winter's cold southerly snap which hit Te Whanganui a Tara hard.

The group started arriving from around 9.15ish. Once everyone had arrived we had a kōrero about what happens at our marae and we went around the group introducing ourselves.

Not too long after the intros our Kaitari, Leighsah and Doug turned up with some kai for that they had prepared for the group. We then took the ANZ team outside got them some tools and gloves and they all got stuck into weeding and general maintenance of our whenua.

Around 11.45am we called everyone in for a well deserved break. We decided to turn the late morning tea into Brunch which our Kaitari, Leighsah and Doug had prepared, Pumpkin Soup, buns, chicken and more, the kai was delicious. Many thanks to the chefs!

During Brunch we had some awesome conversations with the ANZ team. After Brunch we got the ANZ team to plant some of our rākau then called it a day.

Big thanks to the ANZ Volunteers coming up to Ngā Hau e Whā o Paparārangi and doing such a great job with the mahi/work we had organised for them.
